After completing the structural framework and roof construction, the design of the façade for the Firouz House project was entrusted to Roykard Architecture Studio. Faced with pre-existing structural constraints, our focus was on crafting an elegant, functional solution that not only enhances the terraces’ character but also elevates the overall quality of life for its occupants. This involved creating a harmonious connection between the façade, the interior spaces, and the surrounding urban environment, while keeping the design minimal and luminous, opening up towards the cityscape.

The façade design embraced simplicity and transparency, yet employed glossy turquoise-colored bricks—a material that evokes a sense of familiarity with traditional Iranian architecture. This strategic choice rooted the modern, minimalist structure in the local vernacular, subtly referencing traditional houses while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic. The use of these bricks serves as a visual bridge, creating a pleasing urban presence within the street’s context.

To further enhance the verticality and openness of the structure, the design introduced vertical lines that ascend towards the roof, integrating the terrace with the surrounding environment and creating a visual connection between the turquoise bricks and the sky. In an ideal scenario, this approach would have opened up the fourth-floor terrace, allowing the building’s architecture to extend vertically, creating a sense of flow from the urban landscape to the sky. However, due to structural limitations, this vision could not be fully realized.

In response to these constraints, the final design retained the essence of the original concept by continuing the vertical lines towards the sky, creating a dynamic and upward movement. The visual journey culminates at the rooftop, where the boundary between the building and the sky blurs, symbolizing the connection between architecture and the natural world above. This careful integration of form and material ensures the Firouz House stands as a testament to both modern design and traditional architectural references, enhancing the experience of living within this urban setting.
